43 Days of Christmas

Please could you make a donation to support the essential care we will give to patients and families in our community this Christmas.

At Dorothy House we don’t just have the normal ’12 Days’ here; this year we will in fact have 43 Days of Christmas! It all starts for us on Sunday 24th November, when we switch on the lights of our beautiful Christmas tree in the Hospice garden during our ‘Light up a Life’ celebration event. These lights then remain lit for the whole festive season- each one shining in memory of special people from our community.

Sadly some patients will be too poorly to make it to Christmas Day- and many times we’ve pulled Christmas forward a few days or even weeks to give families the chance for a last festive day together. Click here to read Julia’s story.

Here is the link to our ’43 days’ poster – this shows you how much we’ll do to bring an amazing Christmas experience to our patients and their families this year.

Thank you, in advance, for being part of Dorothy House this Christmas and for your kind and generous support.

£35.47 You could pay for one hour of a nurse’s time caring for someone on our Inpatient Unit on Christmas Day.

£66.50 You could cover the cost of half a day’s visit to our Day Patient Unit, allowing a patient with a life-limiting illness to receive therapeutic treatment and have a Christmas meal with friends.

£217 You could pay for our Hospice at Home carers to stay with a patient through the night, enabling them to spend their last Christmas at home with their family.

£8,595 An amazing gift, which would pay for all of Dorothy House’s care services for the whole of Christmas Day. Please contact phillippa.watson@dorothyhouse-hospice.org.uk via email to discuss giving this incredible gift.
