Carer organisations

Each local authority has a carer’s organisation. They provide support to carers including advice, information, social activities, help to have a break, counselling and ’emergency cards’ which you can carry with you to show that you are a carer. You can also talk to Dorothy House’s Family Support Team – please call our Clinical Coordination Centre on 0345 0130 555 (Monday-Friday, 8-6pm; Saturday-Sunday 9am-5pm).

Compass Carers is the first dedicated support service for carers across Somerset, offering information, advice and guidance as well as emotional support, signposting to other organisations, training, and a telephone support service for unpaid carers.

Carer Support Wiltshire can offer emotional support, one-to-one advice, useful information and breaks to anyone aged 16 or over who is giving unpaid care to a child or adult in their day-to-day life.
