We offer a range of services to help you look after yourself. Transport can be arranged for carers who want to take part in certain Dorothy House activities and have no other means of getting there. If this applies, a volunteer driver will collect you from your home and then drop you back again. Please discuss your needs with your Dorothy House contact.
Please visit our Group Workshop page to check which courses are currently running.
A variety of Complementary Therapies, including reflexology, massage and Reiki are available to carers as well as patients.
The Creative Arts Team can work with patients, families and carers at Dorothy House to create memorable pieces of art, including hand casts.
Men’s cook, eat and share group
Four group sessions led by an Occupational Therapist, cooking basic recipes, eating a meal together. Open to patients, carers and their families.
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice, aimed at enhancing wellbeing through gentle stretching and breathing exercises. Please ask the Complementary Therapy team or your Dorothy House link person for details.
‘Plot to plate’ group
A weekly group for patients and carers at our community allotment in Trowbridge, where we grow a variety of vegetables, fruit and edible flowers. The site has raised beds with accessible paths, and a club hut for refreshments.
A weekly group for patients and carers who meet at Peasedown St John or Trowbridge to make a wide range of textile items – from lampshades to felt pictures, bunting to sewing kits – which are sold to raise funds for Dorothy House. An opportunity to learn new skills and share expertise.
