Do you panic when confronted with a syringe driver? If so, you're not alone.

This session will give you an understanding of the 'what, when, why, where and how' of syringe driver use (McKinley), including practical hands on experience. We'll also give you a reference guide to take away.

Other information

This half day sessions aims to give you a basic understanding of how to set up and manage a syringe driver.

It will explore the concept of syringe drivers and how they are used in palliative care.

Key content:

  • an overview of how to set up and manage a syringe driver (including loading and measurement)
  • tips for common problems and ‘trouble-shooting’ techniques
  • information on some of the common medications used
  • a chance to try out your knowledge during a practical hands-on session

We will also give you helpful reference information and information on how to access further advice.
