A half-day session examining the medical management of some of the common symptoms experienced by patients in Supportive, Palliative and EoLC, looking in depth at the causes, assessments, medical management and medications.  

This half day session will cover some of the most common symptoms experienced in Palliative and End of Life care, looking at the physiology, pathology, causes, assessments and treatments used in their management. 

Led by an experienced clinician in Specialist Palliative Care this interactive session will draw on experience from practice and include case studies. 

Course delivery

This session will be delivered by one of our experienced, specialist Advanced Nurse Practitioners Geoff Hooper.

 

Who should attend?

Registered staff who are involved in and want to understand the causes, assessments, medical management and medication used to support the management of some of the common symptoms experienced in Supportive, Palliative and EoLC,   

This session requires a good working knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the systems involved in breathlessness, nausea and vomiting, agitation and restlessness, pain, anxiety, fatigue.

PowerPoint presentation, Interactive teaching and discussion with a focus on:-  

  • Pain 
  • Nausea and Vomiting 
  • Restlessness and agitation 
  • Breathlessness 
  • Anxiety 

Based around patient scenarios and patient studies.
