A regular monthly give will help support us throughout the year and ensure we can continue to support patient and families in our local community.
Make a donation today and help support our work across the community. Your donation will help us provide outstanding palliative and and end of life care for our patients and support for their families.
At Dorothy House, we continue to look ahead, and this involves asking ourselves some serious questions. We currently care for over 2500 patients each year and we know that the need for our care is growing rapidly. So the question is, if we don’t step up to help provide a solution for this increase in demand, who will?
The good news is that we have a plan to do just that.
We have listened carefully to the needs of patients, families and community partners, and have developed an innovative new model of care. Together with our community we will ensure thousands more people receive improved support at the end of life, but we need your help.
We need support to fund this new model of care, and to make sure each one of our services remains available where needed. With reliable investment, we can ensure that our care will continue to reach all those that need it in our community. We have over 1000 Monthly Givers that are already helping us do this, that believe in our care, that want to make sure that we can reach more people now and into the future.
This type of monthly funding is vital, it means that we can plan ahead, and give our patients and families the assurance that services like our bereavement programs, our advice line and our Hospice at Home care will reach those who need it.
Dorothy House now and into the future
Dorothy House has around 900 referred people in our care at any time – that includes patients, their families and carers. Each year we support more than 3000 people in our local community.
With your support, we can continue to grow our services to ensure we are reaching patients and families when and where they need us the most.
We offer care and services throughout our local community, in so many ways:
- Inpatient Unit
- Day Services
- Medical Service
- 24hr Advice Line
- Community Nurse Specialists
- Hospice at Home
- Therapies (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Lymphoedema Service, Complementary Therapy, Creative Arts and Nutrition)
- Family Support Services (Adult social work, Children and Young People’s Service, Bereavement services, Psychological support (pre-bereavement), Chaplaincy/spiritual care and Companions service)
- Education, Research and Professional Development
Our vision is to create a society where death is part of life
Over the last few years, we’ve developed a range of open access group services. These provide light-touch and peer-to-peer support; no referral is required and they are open to anyone.
The reality is that the need for many of our services is growing and we must increase our funding to meet this demand. We estimate that we are currently caring for around half of the people in our area with a palliative care need.
With your support, we will ensure that everyone has access to outstanding palliative and end of life care as we continue to create a society where death is a part of life.
From all of us here at Dorothy House – thank you for your support.
