March 2026 is National Free Wills Month – save money and support hospice care
Every day, hospices across the UK provide comfort, dignity and expert care to people and families facing life’s most difficult moments. The national This is Hospice Care campaign, led by a coalition of 126 hospices across Great Britain, shines a powerful light on this extraordinary support and the vital role that Gifts in Wills play in sustaining it.

Hospice care touches more than 310,000 people every year, right in the heart of our communities. But this essential care is not fully state funded. Nearly £1.4 billion of the £2 billion required annually is raised through community generosity, and Gifts in Wills provide around 20% of all hospice funding, making them indispensable for future care.
National Free Wills Month
That’s why National Free Wills Month this March is such a meaningful opportunity. By writing or updating your will for free, you can make decisions that protect the people you love, while also considering a legacy that extends far beyond your lifetime. Many hospices describe Gifts in Wills as nothing short of transformative. At Dorothy House, we know that approximately one in five of our patients is cared for each year with thanks to these gifts.
This is Hospice Care
Hospice UK‘s This is Hospice Care campaign highlights real stories that perfectly illustrate how hospice care is about so much more than medical support. It is about helping families reconnect, offering therapies that bring comfort and joy, creating cherished memories, and ensuring no one faces the end of life alone.
By taking part in National Free Wills Month this March, you have the chance to become part of this story. Leaving even a small gift in your will can help ensure hospice care lives on; for all, for now, forever.
Your legacy could be the reason someone receives the compassion, expertise and dignity they deserve. This is hospice care. And with your support, it will continue to be there for generations to come.
