We are delighted to share some extraordinary news that marks a major milestone for Dorothy House and the future of supportive care in our region.

The Ennismore Charitable Trust has awarded an exceptional £350,000 grant towards the redevelopment of Nicholson House into the Bath Institute for Supportive Care – a pioneering centre dedicated to bereavement support, education and collaborative research.

The Bath Institute for Supportive Care

Bath Institute for Supportive Care The Bath Institute for Supportive Care will transform our unused Nicholson House building at Winsley into a vibrant, purpose‑designed centre that will significantly expand access to emotional, psychological and bereavement support for people facing life‑limiting illness and loss. It will also serve as a hub for specialist professional training and innovative research that will shape best practice both regionally and nationally.

This new centre will include bespoke therapy rooms, including a dedicated space for children and young people, as well as group rooms, counselling booths, collaborative workspaces and beautifully landscaped outdoor areas designed to support wellbeing and reflection. Crucially, it will strengthen our partnerships with local organisations and academic institutions, including our flagship collaboration with the University of Bath.
