Trek Sahara 2027

Trek Sahara with Dorothy House - new year new challenge

We’re back with another international trek, this time to the beautiful deserts of the Sahara! As part of this unique challenge you’ll spend two full days and two half days trekking through ever-changing desert terrain in a rewarding and awe-inspiring journey. Taking part in a team of Dorothy House trekkers, you’ll be led by skilled guides and have the adventure of a lifetime. This is not to be missed, and with limited places available, don’t hesitate to claim yours now.

Technically this is a 2027 adventure, but with a £2,000 fundraising target (other payment options available), you’ll have plenty of time to fundraise and train!

Snowdon by Night (Yr Wyddfa)

Sign up for a real challenge by taking on Snowdon, one of the UK’s most popular summits, but in the dark! A well-earned reward will be summiting in the moonlight, a view that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

You’ll take part with lots of participants raising funds for their favourite charities, creating an incredible atmosphere as you head up to 1,085 metres above Wales. There are multiple dates available across summer 2026, so grab your friends and family and sign up now.

Thrill seeking challenges

Skydive 2026

Celebrate 50 years of Dorothy House – 15,000 feet up! One unforgettable leap to honour five decades of care. On Saturday 2 May 2026, the day after Dorothy House turns fifty years old, we’re inviting supporters to take on something extraordinary: a 15,000-ft tandem skydive with GoSkydive at Old Sarum. It’s a chance to mark a milestone year in a genuinely memorable way.

Bath City Abseil

In partnership with Bath College, we’re returning to the Macauley Building in Bath for a weekend in September to host the 2nd Bath City Abseil! Conquer 80ft straight down from one of the tallest buildings in Bath as you help raise funds for Dorothy House. Sign up to be the first to hear when registration opens later in the year!

Running challenges

Running or walking ultras and marathons

Bath 50 Ultra Challenge

Located in the elegant historic city of Bath, take on a 50 km Ultra, a testing 29 km, or a sharp 10 km challenge at your pace! From the Bath Racecourse basecamp, 2,000 adventurers will head out on looped routes around and through Bath – with fantastic panoramic views, past the famous Royal Crescent, along the River Avon and taking in many of the city’s sights and sounds and surrounding countryside.

You’ll get full support, and a celebration finish back at basecamp. It’s a great way to set a new goal for 2026 and raise funds for Dorothy House!

Race to the Stones

Established 3000 B.C, the trail has endured 5000 years – you just need to last 100km! Race to the Stones travels across the Ridgeway, the UK’s oldest footpath. Passing through ancient landscapes and ending at the iconic Avebury Standing Stones, this is no mere ultramarathon – it’s a journey on foot through 5000 years of history. With 50K, 100K non-stop and 100K over two days options available, there is the perfect ultra for everyone!

Trail Escape: Bristol-to-Bath

Take on a trail marathon or 25k along the scenic route between Bristol and Bath! The routes will follow a traffic-free ‘green corridor’ to pick up well established and maintained trails. Participants will enjoy stunning views over Bristol as well as relatively ‘gentle’ first sections as they head into the picturesque and fairly flat South Gloucestershire countryside.

The tougher (but most rewarding) final section enters the Cotswolds AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). This will provide participants with breath-taking views back over to Bristol (and even further into Wales) before the descent into the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath and an amazing finish in Royal Victoria Park, amongst its iconic Georgian backdrops.

Dorothy House is a partner charity for this relatively new event, so come and join the team for what promises to be an incredible day.

Walking challenges

Fire & Lego Walk

Looking for something a bit shorter but with no shoes involved? Then we’ve got the event for you, our Fire & Lego Walk! Choose the hot coals (18+) or the kids’ toys and brave this bucket list challenge right here in the grounds of the Hospice.

Men’s Walk to Support 2026

Men's Walk to Support with Dorothy House

Our Men’s Walk to Support is back for 2026 and for the first time ever, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Hospice, we’ve introduced a 25-mile route that will take place alongside the standard 8-mile route that has been a staple of the event for over a decade. The event brings together men 8+ to take on the walk, raising money and taking the opportunity to talk about their mental health and their experiences with grief and bereavement.

Women’s Walk: United in Care

Brand new for this year, we’re introducing a new walk aimed at women, the Women’s Walk: United in Care. This event will focus on bringing attention to the people that provide care, both at Dorothy House and out in our community, including family members providing care for their loved ones, which we know is often provided by women. Keep an eye out for more details to come soon and sign up to be the first to hear the news when it drops.
