Current services and information 

We are continuing to do everything we can to provide care and support to our community.  The safety and wellbeing of our patients, their families, our shop customers, employees and volunteers is our highest priority. Please be assured that in all of the care and support we are providing, we are doing all we can to help keep people safe.

Any decisions we make will be based on the latest Public Health and Government advice, which is updated daily and this page will be regularly updated with any new information.

Visiting guidelines

Testing:  There is no requirement for visitors to take a COVID-19 test before visiting the Hospice.

Visitor limits: There are no restrictions to visiting.

COVID-19: If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or any other virus, please do not visit Dorothy House until you have spoken to the IPU nursing team. They will carry out a risk assessment and advise if a visit is possible, with extra precautions put in place.

How to enter the Hospice: Monday to Friday, 8.30 to 16.30, please use the Main Entrance. Outside of these times, please come to the Ambulance Entrance.

When arriving at the Hospice you will be asked:

  • To use hand sanitiser
  • To sign in using the visitors book

If you would like to help with patient care, the nursing staff will advise on personal protective equipment and hand hygiene.

When you leave the Hospice please:

  • Let staff know you are leaving
  • Sign out in the visitors book
  • Use hand sanitiser

There will be toilet facilities available.
There will be a facility for you to make your own tea and coffee.

Our critical work is even more vital at a time like this: there are more patients to look after and we are committed to ensuring each one receives the highest quality care and compassionate support.

Our clinical teams continue to provide care to our patients, their families and carers. We will keep you fully informed and ensure the needs of our most vulnerable are taken care of first. If you or someone in your care is a Dorothy House patient and you need to get in touch, ring 0345 0130 555.
