This 2 day course is to give non-registered staff the knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care for patients who are at End of Life.

The following topics will be covered:

  • What is palliative and end of life care
  • What to expect in the last 48 hours of life
  • Comfort and positioning
  • Non-pharmacological symptom management
Who should attend?

For any carer who has an interest in supporting patients who are palliative or end of life.

Course details

This two day face to face course will provide delegates with an overview of the potential issues that a patient who is at end of life or palliative care may have.

The course is to give non-registered carers the knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care when working with their patients, to improve comfort and quality of care

Course content

The course includes information giving, and patient studies which participants will be invited to discuss and engage in debate with regards to best care and treatment.

  • What is End of Life and Palliative care
  • What is needed to enhance the quality of care at the last 48 hours
  • Therapeutic ways of improving care and providing comfort
