People’s Postcode Trust

In June 2020, the People’s Postcode Trust awarded Dorothy House a grant of just over £13,000 to fund an exciting new project to help improve palliative and end of life care for people with learning disabilities.

In line with our aim to combat inequalities, Dorothy House has partnered with SWALLOW, a local charity in Somerset, to provide a reciprocal education programme focused on improving end of life care for people with learning disabilities.

Staff from both charities will attend a specially devised training programme during the summer of 2021, where they will learn how to enhance their practices to provide the best care possible. They will hear from expert speakers, as well as service users from SWALLOW, to gain an in-depth insight into the needs and experiences of people with learning disabilities.

This work has been made possible by an award from People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. We are very grateful for this support, and we look forward to sharing news of the training programme in the months ahead.
