Volunteer Awards Celebration 2025
On Friday, 3 October we celebrated the long service and outstanding contributions made by our volunteers at our Volunteer Awards Celebration held at Cumberwell Park Golf Club.
The Dorothy House Volunteer Awards Celebration
105 Volunteers were invited to attend the event to receive a Long Service Award for either 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years’ service to Dorothy House. Volunteers, their guests and staff were welcomed by Liza Pinching, Director of People & Services and Wayne de Leeuw, Chief Executive.
Jean Crouch receives Long Service Award
Everyone enjoyed an afternoon tea while Stephen Taylor, Chair of Trustees spoke about the huge contribution that those attending and all our 1,310 volunteers make to Dorothy House. Wayne, Liza and Stephen went on to present the framed award certificates and badges to each volunteer, speaking about the amazing contribution that each volunteer has made. The Long Service Awards were topped off with the presentation of a 30 year Long Service Award to Jean Crouch who volunteers in our Devizes shop.
Our annual volunteer awards also see us recognise the contribution made by young volunteers to Dorothy House and this year the award for Young Volunteer of the Year has been awarded to Isobel Fletcher who also volunteers in our Devizes Shop.
Dorothy House’s Hidden Heroes
The celebrations continued as Francesca Thompson, Vice Chair of Trustees, went on to present six volunteers with the Hidden Hero Award, which recognises the outstanding contribution of volunteers who go that extra mile for Dorothy House. These volunteers not only received a Hidden Hero Award certificate, but through this award scheme run by Room to Reward, they are also rewarded with the chance to stay away in a hotel of their choice for up to two nights bed and breakfast for two people. The six volunteers who received the Hidden Hero award were Diana Cochran, Nursing Support volunteer, Chris Dando, Retail Assistant in Midsomer Norton, Coral MacKenzie, Lead Companion, Carol Pendleton, Furniture Assistant in Chippenham, Iris Segall, Spiritual Care volunteer and Terry Woodcock, Book Assistant in Broad Street.
