What happens at a funeral?
When someone important to us dies, we say goodbye to them by having a funeral with family and friends. A funeral can take place in somewhere like a church, a mosque, a synagogue, a cemetery or somewhere in nature.
At funerals people may remember the person who has died by sharing stories, listening to music they liked or read poems that honour their life. People at funerals might cry because they feel sad that they won’t see this person again, or they might be happy when remembering special memories they shared with them. There are a variety of emotions people may experience at funerals. It’s ok to be sad and it’s ok to smile too.
We have listed two short animations below to help explain different types of funerals.
