Ways for children to remember someone who has died
Activities such as creating memory boxes and memory jars can be useful ways for children and young people to express their emotions and maintain memories of someone who has died. For teenagers, writing unsent letters or creating memory calendars can be helpful grief tools, whereas crafting story stones and window art may be better suited to young children navigating grief. Here at Dorothy House, we have a range of ‘in memory’ products you can explore when you feel ready.
Dedicate a light on a Firefly
Our Firefly Woods contain a beautiful constellation of individually handmade ‘Fireflies’, kindly gifted by world-renowned artist Bruce Munro. A unique large-scale light installation nestled throughout the woods here in the grounds of the Hospice in Winsley. Each Firefly is made up of tiny separate lights, which glow together, leaving a huge impact. Each light can be dedicated to the life of someone special and will shine brightly in their memory. Your light will be allocated to you for a full year. If you wish, you can choose to renew your dedication once the year comes to an end.
