Celebrate 50 years of Dorothy House – 15,000 feet up. One unforgettable leap to honour five decades of care.

On Saturday 2 May 2026, the day after Dorothy House turns fifty, we’re inviting supporters to take on something extraordinary: a 15,000-ft tandem skydive with GoSkydive at Old Sarum. It’s a chance to mark a milestone year in a genuinely memorable way.

Skydive Challenge & Fundraising Journey

Taking part in the skydive means supporting Dorothy House Hospice Care to provide specialist end-of-life care for patients and their families across our community.

Everyone begins their skydive journey by raising £600, which secures their place on the jump. From there, fundraising is open-ended. Many people naturally go on to raise more – and as your total grows, your skydive experience can grow with it.

Rather than fixed “targets”, we use fundraising milestones. Reaching higher milestones unlocks additional media for your skydive, but there’s never any pressure to stop at a certain level. Every extra pound you raise makes a real difference.

Your Skydive Experience

Your final skydive experience, including any media, is confirmed based on the total amount raised by the fundraising deadline.

£600 – Standard Skydive
A tandem skydive (no media included)

£850 – Hand-Cam Skydive
A tandem skydive with instructor hand-cam video

£1000 – Freefall Photographer Skydive
A tandem skydive with professional photography and video captured by a second diver

£1,100 – Ultimate Skydive Experience
A tandem skydive with full media coverage, including hand-cam video and freefall photographer

How the Fundraising Works

A few important things to know:

  • Fundraising milestones are based on donations received, not pledges or anticipated totals
  • Your final experience is confirmed based on the amount raised by the fundraising deadline
  • If a milestone isn’t reached, the experience defaults to the level below
  • No refunds or partial refunds apply if a milestone is not met
  • All funds raised directly support Dorothy House Hospice Care

Why Your Fundraising Matters

Raising £600 secures your place on the skydive. Anything beyond that helps Dorothy House continue to provide compassionate care when it’s needed most.

£600 – Place Secured

Your fundraising at this level could help provide moments of comfort and reassurance when people need it most, such as:

  • Around 54 calls to our Advice Line
(£11 per call), offering guidance and reassurance to patients, families and healthcare professionals
  • Up to 30 hours of support from a Clinical Support Assistant
(£20 per hour), helping patients and families navigate care at home at the very end of life

£600 gets you on the plane – and already helps us be there at crucial moments.

£850 – Capture the Moment

Reaching this level of fundraising could help us deliver hands-on, specialist care, including:

  • 3–4 overnight Hospice at Home shifts
(£218 per night), enabling patients to remain in familiar surroundings at the end of their life
  • Up to 7 mornings of care from our Community Nurse Specialists
(£123 per morning), helping manage pain, symptoms and emotional distress

This level of support helps us care for people where they feel safest – at home.

£1,000 – Relive the Jump

Fundraising at this level could help fund:

  • 24 hours of care for one patient on our Inpatient Unit

For many supporters, knowing their fundraising could provide a full day of specialist, compassionate care is a powerful milestone.

£1,100+ -The Full Experience

At this level, your fundraising could help us provide sustained care and support for multiple people, such as:

  • 5 overnight Hospice at Home shifts
(£218 × 5 = £1,090), helping patients stay at home with dignity and comfort
  • Up to 27 Writing Through Grief sessions
(£40 per session), supporting people as they process loss alongside others who understand
  • 14 specialist counselling sessions for young adults
(£78 per session), helping young people living with a life-limiting illness feel less alone

This level of fundraising helps us support not just patients, but families and loved ones too.

Fundraising is not capped – how far you go is entirely up to you. Whether you reach £600 or soar beyond £1,100, every pound you raise helps ensure no one faces the end of life alone.

Registration

You need to be at least 16 to do a tandem skydive. If you are aged between 16 and 18 you will need a parent or legal guardian to sign to give their consent. There is no upper age limit to skydiving, so as long as you’re reasonably fit and healthy then there should be no problem with you tandem skydiving with us!

To secure your place, you’ll need to complete two steps:

Step 1 – Register through Enthuse
Set up your fundraising page and begin raising sponsorship.

Step 2 – Finalise your booking with GoSkydive
Once booking is confirmed you will be sent a link by email to pay your £50 non-refundable deposit, complete the health questionnaire and confirm your booking details:

Your place is only confirmed once both steps are completed.

Registration fee

£50 non-refundable deposit is required for all participants. It’s paid directly to GoSkydive and does not count towards your fundraising total.

Why take part

Every moment you spend in free-fall helps support patients and families who rely on hospice care. Your courage in the sky directly supports comfort, dignity and care on the ground.

What you can expect

A few highlights from the day:

  • A 15,000-ft jump – the highest skydive altitude available in the UK
  • Up to 60 seconds of freefall at around 125mph
  • Striking views of Old Sarum Castle, Salisbury Cathedral and, if the weather is kind, even a glimpse of Stonehenge
  • An adrenaline rush and a story you’ll replay for years

A few facts

  • 15,000ft is close to three miles above ground
  • Freefall time is roughly double that of a 10,000-ft jump
  • Old Sarum is the oldest operational airfield in Britain, opened in 1917

Places are limited, and we expect this anniversary event to fill quickly.
