A big fundraising weekend – Men’s Walk to Support and the Bath Half!
14-15 March was a bumper weekend of fundraising for Dorothy House. We saw over 500 men take on the Men’s Walk to Support and 200 runners complete the Bath Half, all in aid of the Hospice.
Saturday – Men’s Walk to Support for Dorothy House
Saturday started early with a group of 45 taking on the brand new 25-mile Men’s Walk to Support route, starting at The Bridge Inn on the Kennet & Avon Canal, at Devizes. A huge thank you to The Bridge Inn team who opened early to serve tea, coffee and bacon sandwiches to those taking on that distance.

The morning was crisp and sunny, the perfect start to what promised to be an amazing day. We then welcomed over 450 participants to the Hospice in Winsley for the start of the 8-mile route, setting off at 11am for a beautiful stroll along the canal.
The walk featured brilliant conversations about grief and bereavement and men’s mental health, with walkers meeting new people and sharing their stories about their connections to Dorothy House and the people who were supported.
Both 8-milers and 25-milers were welcomed to the Bath Pavilion, with food, drink and the big screen showing a mixed bag of Six Nations fixtures. Conversations continued and fun was had, alongside the draw of a fantastic raffle.
The grand total
We are thrilled to announce, that so far, the 2026 Men’s Walk has raised an outstanding £85,000 for Dorothy House!
Sunday – The Bath Half Marathon
As Lead Local Charity for the Bath Half Marathon this year, we recruited the biggest team of runners Dorothy House has ever had, with over 200 wonderful people taking on the 13.1 miles around the city.

We welcomed the runners to our dedicated Dorothy House marquee and heard wonderful stories about why people had taken on the challenge and what Dorothy House meant to them.
We had first time runners taking on a brand-new challenge, and seasoned runners doing their best to beat personal bests and raise even more for the Hospice. Along the course, support for the 200 strong team was strong, with runners being cheered from start to finish, even when the weather turned. We also took over an open top bus to cheer from near Windsor Bridge which gave an added boost to our runners.
