Honouring long‑standing support from the Helen Straker Charity
The Helen Straker Charity has been dedicated to supporting Dorothy House and RUHX since 2013. Founded by Helen and Gordon Straker, the charity continues its remarkable fundraising in Helen’s memory, with Gordon and his fellow trustees leading a busy annual calendar of events to benefit both organisations.
Thanks to their unwavering commitment, the Helen Straker Charity has now donated more than £650,000 to Dorothy House, contributing to a phenomenal £1.2 million total raised for their beneficiary charities. Their generosity continues to make a profound difference to the patients and families we care for. This year, Dorothy House gratefully received a truly remarkable £70,000 donation, raised through their 2025 events.
We warmly welcomed the Helen Straker Charity Trustees to the Hospice on Wednesday 28 January 2026. The visit was attended by founding trustee Gordon Straker (pictured) and his wife Nicola Straker, along with Trustees Stephen Harbour and James Sheate (both pictured), and former trustee Richard Dee. Also in attendance was our Ambassador and Bath Rugby player Tom Dunn, and members of the Dorothy House Executive Team, including Chief Executive Wayne de Leeuw.
