Throughout the pandemic our first priority has been the welfare of our workforce, customers and donors. As we start reopening our shops, this will continue to be our focus.
Extra measures are in place to minimise risk to our shoppers and our workforce: we will adhere to social distancing, we’ve made changes to how we process donations and we have personal protective equipment available for our workforce to use. As these new ways of working are established, we will continue to open more shops.
Our shops will be delighted to accept your clean, good quality donations. Broken or soiled items cannot be accepted so please check that your donations are in good order. Our website will be updated daily with the full list of items we are currently accepting and shop opening times. Additionally, in keeping with current government advice please note that we rest all our donations for 48 hours.
We’re also making changes to how we collect and deliver furniture in order to keep our workforce and customers safe. More information will follow shortly so please check back.
Our eBay shop remains open day and night. Shop with us from the comfort of your sofa here: https://www.charity.ebay.co.uk/charity/The-Dorothy-House-Foundation-Ltd/9905
We are looking forward to seeing you in our shops and expect you will find some really great treasures since everyone’s had a lockdown clear-out.
Thank you for your support.

While we would love to be able to take all donations, there are some items we can't accept due to size, quality, health & safety, or hygiene reasons. For a complete list of these items, please click on the link to the left of this message.
How can I donate non-furniture items?Info
We are always grateful to receive your pre-loved items to sell in our shops. If you would like to donate clothing, bric-a-brac, music, kitchenware, etc. please visit your local shop between 4-5pm and they will be happy to receive your goods. (Note: It's best to ring the shop ahead of your visit to ensure that they are opened as we conduct a phased re-opening following the recent closures due to CV-19.)
Following COVID-19 are there any changes to items I can donate?Info
At this time we are unable to accept books or DVDs. While our Donation Stations were opened, following the loosening of lockdown restrictions, we received a surplus of books and DVD stock. As such, we've reached capacity for these items and cannot accept any new donations.
Can I GiftAid my donations?Info
Yes! Did you know that by adding GiftAid to your donations they're worth 25% more to us? That will help raise even more much needed funds for Dorothy House at no extra cost to you. When you donate, you will be asked whether you are a tax payer and if you would like to GiftAid your donation. This means that for every £1 we make from your donation; the government will give us an extra 25p. So, if you are able to GiftAid, please do it!
