Christmas Tree Collection
We have a number of businesses whose employees go out in their vans to collect trees year after year and find it makes a great team building experience – could your business take part? Do you have a van you’d be willing to use to collect trees? Please get in touch.
Perhaps you’re a catering business who would like to provide bacon rolls to our volunteers? We are also on the lookout for tree surgeons with wood chippers. If you have the time and the skills and machinery, we would love to hear from you.
Please email christmastrees@dorothyhouse-hospice.org.uk
Thomas Gardiner - SSEN
Thomas is based in the company’s Ridgeway region and has volunteered his time to help Dorothy House Hospice Care since January 2017. The distribution network operator lends the vehicles and chippers required to carry out the recycling of the trees, and in 2022 Thomas was joined by nine other colleagues from SSEN to work on the largest amount of trees the charity has recycled to date.
“My colleagues and I are delighted to be able to volunteer and to help raise money for this incredible local charity, while helping boost Wiltshire’s community and environment through sustainability and recycling.”
Will Willoughby - Wessex Water
‘‘Having taken part in the tree collection for a number of years now it has become a regular event in the calendar. Not only is it good fun getting out and about meeting plenty of inquisitive members of the public, but it gives a great sense of pride that we can do something quite small, in the grand scheme of things, which in the end has a hugely positive impact.’’
