As we approach the festive season, we know it can be a difficult time for those who are at the end of their life, or for those who have lost someone important to them. But at this time of year especially, Dorothy House offers a beacon of hope and healing for many, with our Light up a Life Appeal.
There is something powerful about remembering through light and love. Each light that shines on the beautiful tree is not only a tribute to someone we love, but it is also a gift that helps others. A gift given in the name of those we wish to remember, to help those in need today.

Bill's story
Bill and Val had been together 52 years when Val was diagnosed with lung cancer, aged 69. Bill’s story shares how Dorothy House supported Val and their family from the very beginning of Val’s diagnosis through to the last few days of her life.

Hand-written dedication card
If you choose to sponsor a light on our tree this year, you will receive a handwritten dedication card. You will received two stars, one to keep, and one we’ll display at our Services of Light. Your star will join thousands of others at our Services of Light, displayed together in solidarity, love and remembrance.
Services of Light
Our Services of Light are open to everyone. They are offered as a space to reflect and remember, to spread light across our community in celebration of those we love. During the services, you will be offered a candle. This is yours to take and light at a time that is meaningful to you. For younger attendees, we will be offering a Christmas gift as a symbol of our thanks. For those attending our Winsley House services, you will be able to see our wonderful Christmas tree, sparkling with the lights of those we wish to remember this year.
For anyone unable to attend he services, you are of course welcome to visit the tree at any time.

Winsley House Service
Our Winsley House service will take place on Sunday 23 November from 3pm. Please click here to register for your free ticket. This will be a standing service.
Bath Abbey Service
Our Bath Abbey Service will take place on Tuesday 25 November from 7pm. Please click here to register for your free ticket. This will be a seated service. We will also be live streaming this service for those who are unable to attend a physical service. We will share the link to the livestream closer to the date of the service.
