Raise some dough and host a Dorothy House Coffee Morning!

Summer is here so what better time to plan your Dorothy House Coffee Morning? Not only does hosting a Coffee Morning give you a great excuse to get together with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours over a cuppa and a slice of cake, but you’re also raising funds to support hospice care in your community.

The best thing about hosting a Coffee Morning is that you can host your event, your way. Whether you keep it a traditional affair at home with a few close friends or throw a lavish event in the office, the possibilities are endless. You can even include a few extras to really take it to the next level, such as quizzes, raffles, or even a few party games!

Jenny and Mandy’s Coffee Morning

One of our wonderful Coffee Morning hosts are Jenny and her friend, Mandy, and they make it an annual event!

Last August, Jenny and Mandy raised an amazing £1,000 through their Coffee Morning and accompanying raffle, in memory of Jenny’s brother Richard. They’re back for another event on 2 August, once again determined to raise another fantastic amount for the Hospice. They’ll also be hosting two raffles this year, one of which has a very special prize – a handmade, one-of-a-kind leather bag. Made by one of Mandy’s relatives, the bag was lovingly created and hand-stitched especially for the event, so the ladies felt that it deserved its own special raffle!

As with their last Coffee Morning, Jenny and Mandy’s event will be held in memory of Richard, with all funds raised going into his Tulip Fund.

Raising funds, one cup at a time!

You may surprise yourself with how much you can raise by bringing people together for a cup of coffee and a cake or two! The funds raised at your event will help us provide compassionate, personalised care and support to people in our community with a life-limiting illness, and every single penny will make a difference.

£245 could pay for a full shift of care on our Inpatient Unit, so a person can receive essential care, symptom control and pain relief.

£375 could fund two full shifts, one during the day and one during the night, delivered at a patient’s home by a compassionate, skilled and experienced Hospice at Home carer. Providing care and essential respite to families; enabling a person to stay in the comfort of their own home at the end of their life.

£620 could fund an amazing 20 hours of 1:1 specialist counselling, helping patients, families, carers and children to cope with the emotional and psychological impact of illness, dying, death and bereavement.
