Pioneer Fund

Be a Pioneer in the future of palliative and end of life care. Our Pioneers play a vital role in helping us to achieve our ambitions.

The Pioneer Fund was launched in 2020 and is a commitment to pledge £1,000 a year for three years.  This can be paid annually or monthly by direct debit.

The 2020 cohort of Pioneers is enabling visionary research to be conducted and to improve care for all.  Their pledge is an investment to influence the provision of care, which could touch many lives in the years ahead, and to give our Research Team the flexibility to conduct a variety of research (locally, nationally and internationally).

The 2021 Pioneers are funding the training and developmental support for our new Community and Palliative teams as they seek to work more independently. This will be provided by a team experienced in developing health care professionals to form self-managed teams that are empowered to respond to the needs of their patients and communities enabling the Dorothy House staff to deliver more bespoke and vital end of life care.

How being a Pioneer helps?

Your pledge is an investment to influence the provision of end of life care within your community.  By supporting the Hospice, you will help Dorothy House to ensure more patients receive the right care, in the right place, delivered by the right person.   These patients could be you, your family, friends or colleagues.

How will you keep me informed of progress?

Every six months a brief report on progress will be circulated so you are kept up to date.  Once it is safe to do so, you will be invited to the Hospice for an annual Pioneer event so you can meet the staff involved with your project and meet other Pioneers.

Our current ambition is to hold an event in the Hospice grounds in the summer.  If attending an event to hear an update is not appropriate for you, we will also be offering virtual updates.
