At Dorothy House, we have a long history of being supported by our amazing Fundraising Friends groups out in the community.

Our Fundraising Friends Groups are made-up of local community members who champion Dorothy House and raise vital funds for the care we provide. These valued and committed supporters of our cause run their own fundraising events, Coffee Mornings, support our fundraising campaigns, organise collections and so much more.

Being a Dorothy House Fundraising Friend comes with many benefits, which include:

Meeting like-minded people and doing something positive for your local Hospice

These wonderful groups are localised to the towns and cities within our geographical reach. As such, members meet-up and organise fundraising activities in the communities in which they live. Being part of a Fundraising Friends group is a great way to meet new people, make friends and give back to the local community.

Raising vital funds for end of life care in your local community

You don’t have to be personally connected to the Hospice to join or start a Friends Group. Being a Fundraising Friend is a wonderful way to support your community by raising vital funds for the Hospice to continue to deliver personalised end of life care across Bath & North East Somerset (BaNES), and parts of Wiltshire and Somerset.

Being part of a group who are making an impact

Groups meet on a regular basis and plan events throughout the year. Your support to these efforts will help raise more funds, making a bigger impact overall. You can contribute as much, or as little, as you like. You and your group members will be supported continuously by a Community Team fundraiser.

Funding the Hospice’s vital services

Every year, collectively, our Friends Groups raise thousands of pounds to support the work of the Hospice. Their incredible contributions have helped to fund our vital services, including specialist palliative care in our 10-bed Inpatient Unit and care provided by our Hospice at Home team; complementary therapies and bereavement support.

Could fund

one week’s services provided by a full-time Nurse Specialist, delivering care to patients in the community.

Could fund

10 shifts of a nurse on the Inpatient Unit, providing specialist care day or night.

Could fund

one month of creative therapy services, supporting patients and families, carers and bereaved within the Hospice based at Winsley.
